Points to Remember
- Launched By CSIR-CRRI, New Delhi on 1st May, 2020.
- Aim:– To connect farmers, to the supply chain and freight transportation management system
The CSIR – CRRI (Central Road Research Institute), New Delhi has launched the “Kisan Sabha App” on 1 st May 2020, to connect farmers, to the supply chain and freight transportation management system. Farmers are facing trouble in transporting their produced crops to the market due to the nationwide lockdown. Hence, proper supply chain management is essential to meet the timely delivery of the produced crops at the best pricing. For a timely and effective solution, the portal acts as a single stop for every entity related to agriculture.
“Kisan Sabha App” has 6 major modules taking care of:
- Mandi Dealers,
- Mandi Board Members,
- Service Providers
Goal:- The primary goal of the app is to increase farmers’ profit margins by minimising the interference of middlemen and directly connecting with the institutional buyers.
It will also help in providing the best market rates of crops by comparing the nearest mandi’s, and booking of freight vehicles at the cheapest cost.
The Kisan Sabha App was developed by looking into the current situation. Overall, our agriculture market is not well organised. Either lots of produce is getting wasted or is being sold at a very low rate. The detailed primary study was done with more than 500 farmers, were interviewed and a 6-day long survey with dealers, transporters, and farmers was conducted in Asia’s biggest Azadpur Mandi to understand the various issues and gaps.
This application will also help dealers of fertilisers and pesticides to reach out to more farmers for their services. It will also benefit those people who are associated with cold storage spaces and warehouses.
